Karkala,Varanga,Mangalore – Wow Karkala

Mangalore is a coastal town which is  51 kms from Bangalore. The commercial centre of Western Karnataka.Mangalore is popularly known as Dakshina Kannada. This coastal sojourn owns the popular beach named Ullal.

Dakshina Kannada comprises the three-fourth area of  dense forests. The vast densest forests are also a part of Western Ghats.Lets explore the ghat sections in this blog.Let’s see some of the offbeat hilly areas: Varanga and Karkala.

Near MangaloreVaranga

Varanga is a hilly village purely irresistible. The Varanga’s weather is so cool as it is situated in ghats.Hebri is the place I headed in Varanga.

Near Mangalore-Hebri:

Varanga Lake is a bewitching place where an 800 old Basadi is located. The Basadi is placed at the centre of a vast blue lake

The Varanga Lake is surrounded by ravishing rosy, waxy lotuses with shining leaves. The water droplets in the top layer of the lotus glittered when misty sun hits.I took a boat on a lakeside to reach the centre.

Varanga Lake Boat Ride:

All of the sudden when I started to travel to the centre the mist and fog started to play with me.Within a few minutes it started to rain.I overwhelmed when the rain started its downpour.

Whenever it rains no matter what, I would spend my full-time with it.Even for continuous four hours of downpour I would enjoy it to the fullest.I would experience every rain pour as heavenly.

Rain…

After all, Rain is all I need at least once a week.Rode on  a small wooden boat.As the glitters of diamonds from the sky hit my face in a divine way.

Held my chin-up and felt the cold misty breeze with glitters of every single minute droplets of diamond. The boat-rider covered his face with plastic cover.I wondered Why ?Is he afraid of cold or fever?Yet I didn’t ask that question to a stranger.

Centre of the Lake:Basadi

In the centre of dense forests all around,a lake full of rosy lotuses, misty uncoloured air, pretty dark clouds ! Alluring nature!

Basadi holds history before the 12 th century.I mean more than 850 years as of now.It takes back to 850 years. It has a Idol of Lord Parsawanth.

History:

The Karnataka government is doing an amazing initiative to preserve this kind of big treasure.I can’t resist the fact that we are in the 21st century. This place still deserves my heart and mind.I felt grateful for this visit offbeat Varanga Lake.

Time To Visit:

Monsoon time is the best time to visit.October – December

Let’s go to the next hilly area! It’s Karkala…

Near MangaloreKarkala:

Karkala is the seventh heaven for nature admirers.Again this hill is located in the skirts of Western Ghats. This area amazes me -with all majestic mountains and splendid views.

Karkala lies in Udupi District.Karkala is 20 kms from Varanga.Karkala is 52 kms from Mangalore. This hilly region comprises long and tall sheddy trees, ups and downs of road thrill, pretty little red cherry fruits, spicy pepper plantations and coffee plantations.

Plantations across Karkala(Near Mangalore)

There were large numbers of rare species of flora and fauna. In the midway of Karkala saw the vast Paak plantations. As this is a hilly region the Paak trees are arranged in steepy line.

Paak Plantations:

Each line consists of 10 to 15 Paak trees.Like this way they have maintained 10 lines in an acre.So in an acre more than 100 Paak plantations.Mountainous people earn their early income from these Paak plantations.

Rubber Plantations:Near Mangalore

I saw a large amount of Rubber and Coconut plantations. For Rubber plantations, people paved a small way in each rubber trees. In that small way a stingy white dried liquid would come.

The white liquid is Rubber. The rubber has been  collected with a small cup which was placed at the end of the paved way.

It was a long process. After collecting the rubber from each tree they would dry and fabricate. Then they sell to other manufacturing companies.

Non—sense

Suddenly I just touched the rubber fluid and rubbed it in the same tree. Some disgusting smell came so I just threw that dried rubber there.I don’t know why I just smelled that.I would do such nonsense things sometimes.

Pepper Plantations:

While travelling into the hilly regions we might notice strange things. If we stop our vehicle and notice we might have discovered something which already exists.

Likewise Pepper plantations found me. I saw a pepper plant seeds without even knowing that it was pepper.

Pepper Yards:

One small leaf-like substance.Inside that I saw small pepper seeds. Those seeds are being crushed and served as pepper powder for us.Nature never fails to amaze. When I ate a small piece ,I felt numb and also had a very spicy taste I couldn’t explain. It was good.I stole some pieces of pepper from the yard as there was none when I saw.

After a minute one worker came in front and explained that these are pepper plantations and gave some pepper to us.

He was so kind I felt embarrassed when he gave pepper to taste.I realised,I did again a nonsense thing.

Chaturmukha:(Near Mangalore)

Chaturmukha is a stoned architectural building having similar four sides. While seeing in north, south, east or west the Chaturmukha gives similar sight of work.Chatur means four.Mukha means face.(Four faces)

A few miles away from this Chaturmukha a Lord Gomateshwara hillock is located. This Chaturmukha can be sighted from the side view.

Chaturmukha has immense wonderful architectural work of the 12 th century. It is very difficult to carve the four sides with similar work. But they had done without any single technology. This erected for pure talented work of older people of the 12 th century.

Together with everything that seems to be building within this particular area, many of your points of view happen to be somewhat exciting. Nonetheless, I appologize, because I do not subscribe to your entire strategy, all be it exciting none the less. It seems to everybody that your remarks are actually not totally validated and in reality you are generally your self not even wholly convinced of the argument. In any event I did enjoy looking at it.

In my view, if all webmasters and bloggers made excellent content as you probably did, the internet can be much more useful than ever before.
